A working pump does not normally need to be replaced simply because its operator wants to switch it from somewhere else. Where the electrical system is suitable, remote control can be added to the existing starter or panel while retaining local operation.
For Indian pump dealers, panel suppliers and installers, this creates a useful upgrade package for existing customers. HONEST HT-2401G is a 4G controller for pumps and compatible equipment, operated through the HONEST-IOT app. It is a control accessory, not a pump or a replacement for every motor-starting and protection function.
1. What does a mobile motor starter actually change?
In India, names such as mobile motor starter and GSM pump controller cover several different products. Some switch by phone call or SMS; others use a connected app. Some are control modules, while others include the contactor and protection components in a complete starter panel.
First establish whether the customer needs an add-on controller or a complete motor-starting assembly.
HT-2401G uses 4G and the HONEST-IOT app. The user selects a device and sends an ON/OFF command for the site controller to execute. Its power-loss SMS is a notification; it does not mean that this model starts the pump through an SMS command or missed call.
A three-phase solution requiring a contactor can be understood as: phone app → 4G network → HT-2401G → suitable contactor/control circuit → pump. This is a control relationship, not a wiring diagram. The selected power circuit carries the motor load; a small controller is not a direct switch for any size of motor.

2. Which customer problems can the upgrade solve?
The first is an inconvenient operating location. Customers can operate compatible equipment after leaving the pump house or farm. App control is not limited to a handheld transmitter's point-to-point range. No Wi-Fi router is required at the site; the supplied 4G version and service must match the local network.
The second is repeated operation at planned times. HT-2401G supports scheduled ON/OFF operation and cyclic tasks. These execute according to time; they do not independently detect soil moisture, an empty well or a full tank.
The third is shared responsibility. HT-2401G supports shared management and shows the control-output state in the app. Clear pump names help the responsible person and other users distinguish equipment at different locations.
ON/OFF describes the control output. Actual water delivery needs a site check or a separately matched monitoring solution; a power icon alone cannot prove that a pump is delivering water correctly.
3. How can an existing pump be upgraded?
Step 1: record the equipment. Collect the motor nameplate, HP or kW, rated voltage and current, phase arrangement and the existing starter type. “Submersible pump” alone is not enough information to select the controller package.
Step 2: establish how the remote command will enter the control system. DOL, star-delta, soft-starter and variable-speed systems have different circuits. The installer must design for the actual equipment, retaining the necessary protection, interlocks and local stopping functions. This is not a claim that one module connects identically to every starter.
Step 3: match the supply and load. HONEST can supply relevant configurations for Indian 415V three-phase applications. Match the controller supply, motor power circuit and contactor coil separately. A 415V motor nameplate does not mean that every controller terminal accepts 415V. HT-2401G is integrated into three-phase pump solutions through a suitable AC contactor.
Step 4: bind and name the device in the app. Names such as “North irrigation pump” or “Orchard water pump” are easier to use than an equipment number alone. Test both app switching and the local buttons to confirm the correct pump responds.
Step 5: complete a supervised handover. Check the control output, contactor action and actual water delivery. If schedules are required, run a short test before handing over the normal operating plan.

4. What happens during a network or power outage?
If power remains available but the network is lost, saved HT-2401G schedules and cyclic tasks can continue. New remote commands or setting changes require the connection to return.
During a site power cut, an unpowered pump cannot keep pumping. HT-2401G supports power-loss SMS alerts to a mobile phone in areas where its phone-control service is supported.
Power-loss memory can be enabled or disabled. When enabled, it retains the previous switching state and saved schedules/cyclic tasks for use when power returns. Agree the setting with the customer and test restoration during handover. Memory is not backup power and does not imply that every irrigation task missed during a power cut will be replayed.
Network loss, power loss and memory
Saved schedules and cyclic tasks continue
Pump loses power; power-loss SMS supported
Use retained state and tasks when memory is enabled
5. What if the customer does not need mobile management?
For operation around the site using a handheld transmitter, consider RF control. The HONEST HT-9220KG series offers open-area ranges of 1–5 km according to configuration, together with local buttons. Handheld operation does not depend on a mobile network.
HT-2401G is a better fit when the customer wants off-site app operation, output-state display, schedules/cyclic tasks or shared management. Start with where the user operates and what the daily task requires, rather than the words remote or mobile on a box.
6. How is the data service arranged?
The overseas HT-2401G version includes one year of data. Contact HONEST, the manufacturer, to renew after that period. Record the service start date and renewal contact with the handover documents.
Match the supplied India version to the installation area and operator. A phone showing signal does not establish that every controller or SIM is suitable. After a shop demonstration, complete a connectivity check at the actual installation position.
7. Questions dealers are often asked
Can any old starter accept the same controller?
No single module is a universal connection for every control circuit. Check the starter type, supply, load and protection before designing the integration. Adding remote operation does not by itself require a new pump.
Can the pump start through a missed call like some GSM products?
The HT-2401G described here is controlled through HONEST-IOT and 4G. Its power-loss SMS is an alert. A customer specifically requiring call or SMS switching needs a product with that function.
Does the upgrade automatically add dry-run protection and full-tank stopping?
No. Mobile control, timing, level detection and motor protection are separate functions. Dry-run or full-tank stopping requires a matched detection and control solution; these are not default HT-2401G features.
Build an upgrade package your pump shop can deliver
HONEST combines development, manufacturing and sales of remote control switches, with multiple voltage, power and control configurations and OEM/ODM discussions available. Start with a group of pumps your shop commonly sells and define the controller, necessary panel components, installation and operator training as one clear package.
Send the Indian sales region, pump nameplates, existing starter photographs, required functions and expected quantity to discuss a suitable dealer supply and installation package.
